MMC Missions and ministries

MMC is very involved in missions and has ministries to reach out to our community and into the world.

Our food pantry is a monthly opporutnity to meet the needs of the Midway community by providing groceries to those asking.  It is open on the fourth Thursday of each month at 8:30 am.  The preceeding Wednesday morning is an opportunity to help pack bags for the pantry.

Our youth group is growing in faith and activities.  They helped with VBS and meet each Sunday during Sunday School to learn and plan future activities.  During the summer of 2017, they went on a mission trip to Tennessee to serve with the Appalachian Service Project.

The Happy Hearts are an ecumenical group of retirees who meet for a meal and a short talk by someone from the community.  They meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 11:30 at the church (or if they are going out to eat, they meet at 11 am).

MMC is seeking to reach out with blessings in our neighborhood.  In June and July, we took on a special project to make one person be blessed - in this case, the security guard at the Heritage Bank.  Church members brought him water, prayed for him, and tried to make him feel comfortable on the hot days of the summer.  On July 24, we received a very effusive note from Officer O'Neil thanking the church for this.  On July 17th, we were challenged to pray for our law enforcement.  From this, an effort to invite them to our church gatherings came about.  On July 24th, a new initiative to bless our teachers was begun as we began to collect items for school teachers classrooms in Liberty County.

MMC helps with many other ministries such as the Gabriel House in Hinesville, the Methodist Children's Home in Macon, Magnolia Manor in Richmond Hill, bringing meals to shut ins, visiting those that are sick, and sharing the message of peace and hope to all who might receive it.

We have been involved in many projects over the years, and we invite you to learn by example how you can help your community together with Midway Methodist Church.
